There's more to thoroughbred racing than horses running fast. There's also how well the horse handles inclines, whether it prefers to run mid-pack early in the race or to take the lead right away, its age, how well it performs on different track surfaces, and its general temperament. And let's not forget the time before and between races -- even horses need good managers.
